Join up with these folks - Friends of the Lincoln Community Forest
Good people doing great things in our local forests
Hello Friends, Members and Contacts,
We had a really great year at the Lincoln Community Forest in 2023! Thank you to all our volunteers and supporters. I am asking for your continued support as you are able.
Here's a snapshot of 2023:
The Mikinaak Lake Boardwalk was built with the help of WisCorps:
Our Second Saturday Activities were well attended and appreciated. We are fortunate to have really great leaders and guides:
Grooming was a challenge with all the snow last winter, but the trails were in great shape (thank you groomers and other volunteers):
Our Board recently reflected on our 10 years as a friends organization and they all expressed their gratitude for the protection of these 400 acres. They also talked about the importance of connecting with nature in the Forest, and the friendships and connections made in our work and play.
Our plans for 2024:
Continue to maintain the Forest's 5 miles of trails, including mowing and trimming in the summer, and grooming for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
Expand our education efforts. We will have 6 Second Saturday activities and guided walks this year. I will send out a schedule soon. Expect to see some interpretive signs in the Forest this year.
The little library at the trailhead will be kept stocked with children's nature books.
We are currently developing an education plan to focus our work in the most effective way we can, especially since we are an all-volunteer organization.
Work with partners to improve fish and wildlife habitat.
Your memberships and donations help us do this work, so please renew your membership and/or donate if you are already a life member.
