Dear Friends of Lincoln Community Forest,
Here are three activities we invite you to be part of the weekend of May 13. One is a our activity and two are partners activities:
Lincoln Community Forest Second Saturday Activity is Learn to Identify Birds. Saturday, May 13 at 1:30. Meet at the Lincoln Community Forest Trailhead for a couple hours of "how to identify birds." Pam Dryer will demonstrate tools and tricks of bird watching. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have a few extra pairs. Goodies afterward.
Plant trees at Beaver Hollow in Northern Bayfield County May 12-14. The Friends of North Pikes Creek Wetlands are planting trees at Beaver Hollow on Friday, May 12, through Sunday, May 14, beginning at 9 am each day. You are invited to join in and help any day! They will be planting red oak, swamp white oak, bur oak, hackberry, black cherry, to replace the anticipated loss of trees to the invasive emerald ash borer. Free lunch provided. Trout Unlimited is planting trees on May 13 along the Marengo River upstream of the Lincoln Community Forest. The event will begin at 9am and people are welcome to stay as long as they can. There is a free cookout for lunch, and a little stream side science and exploration for kids and adults alike! And a heads-up. A tree stand was left over the winter in the north unit of the Lincoln Community Forest near the bat houses. It will be removed by the owner, Landmark Conservancy. This property is enrolled in Managed Forest Law and tree stands must be taken down every night unless you have landowner permission. If you know whose tree stand this is, please contact them and suggest they remove it on their own ASAP.
