A bit of set up to this…in the video they refer to the first UCI World Mountain Bike Championship event in Durango, CO in 1990.
While the professional world turned their eyes to that event, Greg LeMond decided to enter his first mountain bike event when he attended and won the 1990 Chequamegon 40.
It was a great time in the still growing sport of mountain bike racing.
An aside, Zap Espinoza well know cycling journalist and photographer, is one of my Mountain Bike Hall of Fame brothers who visited Chequamegonland as well back in the day.
