1-8-23 Drummond Ski Trail Grooming Update
A tip of the hat to the hard-working volunteer trail groomers in Drummond and beyond.
All the inner loops have tracks now. The Boulevard only has a single track in places. The ample base is mostly firm, but needs time and cold weather to set up properly.
Plenty of debris is still on the trail and the Boulevard beyond Jackrabbit will not get any attention until next week. Many hours have been spent cutting downed trees and releasing whips so they don’t smack you in the face. Those whips are 1"-2” trees that are up to ten feet off the trail, but laden with ice and snow, causing them to bend over in your face. The beautiful thick conifer forests of the Drummond Ski Trail have shed many branches and the dead ones have fallen across the trails.
This has been a challenging winter for trail maintenance, and it’s only just begun.
